Success within The Jodrell Bank Consultation Zone and SSSI
The Jay Ashall Partnership team of Arhcitects have successfully achieved planning consent for the conversion of an existing barn to holiday lets. The site lies within the Jodrell Bank Consultation Zone and within a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The barn is an old agricultural brick barn which had previously been partially converted. Under the recently approved scheme, the barn is to be converted into three holiday lets, each containing one bedroom, bathroom and a kitchen/living/diner. The internal layout of the units has been designed to reuse the existing floor space available on both ground and first floor to create individual, self-contained accommodation. The design principle was to retain the traditional, agricultural character and appearance of the building. All existing openings and architectural features such as the circular window have been retained to the building with the enlargement of some openings and the introduction of minimal new openings where required to provide access and natural daylight into the building.
Jodrell Bank raised no objection to the proposals and Natural England was of the view that “the proposed development would not have significant adverse impacts on statutorily protected species”.
