The brief was to design a new detached house in a woodland area in the grounds of an existing house. The design was traditional but unique in the ‘arts and crafts’ style. The house had to be carefully designed and sited to maintain the existing woodland. Appointment on the scheme was from feasibility study through to site supervision. Various internal modifications were made during the process. Competitive tenders were obtained and the house was constructed within the client’s budget. The scheme included bespoke kitchen and bathroom designs with contemporary log burning stoves in the lounge and open plan living area. The design also incorporated some unique design features including a large feature window and internal balcony over the dining area.
