The brief on this project was for the demolition of an existing bungalow and provision of a new modern house in its location. The client specified that the building was to be constructed using an ICF construction, with concrete poured into insulated shuttering which was to be rendered or clad in timber externally. 3D models and artistic impressions were produced of the proposed helical staircase, entrance hall and internal gallery.
The building is split level with high ceilings and includes distinct features such as a laundry chute from first floor level direct to the utility room. There is a curved glazed wall between the hall and dining room and a first floor south facing balcony with timber cladding walls and patio doors from the landing. The kitchen is minimal with limited cupboard space with pantry provided for additional storage.
The unique character of the house reflects the form and shape of the original building, but provides a contemporary twist.
