Black Firs Primary School is an academy and part of the Congleton Multi-Academy Trust (CMAT) and a member of the Congleton Education Community Partnership. The school had already obtained planning approval for a new pre-school and nursery. JAP were appointed to obtain funding through the government’s CIF scheme. Following a successful bid, we were appointed to take the project forward to building regulations and to oversee the works on site.
The project was a standalone mono-pitch building in the grounds to the primary school. The building included a green sedum roof and tonal green cladding panels. A mezzanine level was provided internally provided as a play space for the pupils. A timber frame canopy links the new building to the new outdoor play area.
