We were approached by our Client, a property investor, to investigate the potential to extend an existing residential development in Croydon, London.
The project was split into two phases. The first was a roof top extension to the existing building to provide an additional 14 units. This was carefully developed using the London Plan in liaison with the local planning authority to create a scheme that regenerated the existing site, complied with the required standards and complemented the existing form.
The second phase was a new build development of 9 apartments to the rear of the existing building on a derelict plot of land. Close liaison was undertaken with the planning officer and it was agreed that a contemporary standalone building would be appropriate on this site. Careful detailing was required due to the tight parameters on the site and the scheme was developed in Revit 3d software.
Since planning approval was obtained for the second phase of the project, we have been developing the roof top extension to provide an additional 17 apartments. The proposal is for a metal clad, lightweight mansard roof top extension.
