We were pleased to receive planning and listed building consent at the end of July for the erection of two detached dwellings alongside a single storey extension to a Grade II listed thatched barn, now in residential use. The extension adopts a contemporary design approach, incorporating standing-seam zinc cladding. While contrasting with the traditional form and materials of the listed building, the simple, utilitarian form and use of zinc were considered appropriate to the site's rural setting, drawing reference from modern agricultural buildings. The scheme also introduces two distinct new dwelling designs, creating a more organic and less formal pattern of development than the previously approved scheme. We’re delighted to have secured consent for a scheme that carefully balances the character of the existing listed building with a contemporary approach to new development.
